MUNGO Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of MUNGO (the "Service"), operated by MUNGO ("we," "us," "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not access or use the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms
By registering an account, installing the Electron desktop application, or otherwise accessing the Service, you represent that you (a) have read and agree to these Terms, (b) have read and agree to our Privacy Policy, (c) are at least 13 years of age (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction), and (d) have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements. If you are accessing the Service on behalf of an organization (e.g., a school, MUN club, or organizing committee), you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Definitions
  • Service — The MUNGO platform, including the marketing website at mungoservice.com, the web console at console.mungoservice.com, the Electron desktop applications, the REST/WebSocket API at api.mungoservice.com, and the privacy request portal at privacy.mungoservice.com.
  • Organizing Committee (OC) — A school, MUN league, or institution that subscribes to a paid plan and hosts one or more Events.
  • Event — A Model UN conference instance created by an OC, containing one or more Venues.
  • Venue — A single committee/council within an Event (e.g., "Security Council").
  • Dais Team — The chair team responsible for running a Venue (one Dais Head, optional Co-Dais Heads, optional Dais Members).
  • Delegate — An end user representing a country in a Venue.
  • User Content — Any content you submit through the Service, including Draft Resolutions (DR), Working Papers (WP), chat messages, speech transcripts, reference materials, motion logs, and uploaded files.
  • Subscription — A paid plan purchased by an OC granting access to the Service. Specific plan options are not described in these Terms and are obtained by contacting sales (see Section 7.1).
  • OC Credit — Prepaid balance held by an OC, debited per AI call, used to pay for the Managed AI features described in Section 8.

3. Account Registration
3.1 Eligibility
To register, you must:
  • Be at least 13 years of age and affirm this via the age attestation checkbox at registration (COPPA compliance — 16 CFR Part 312);
  • Possess a valid invite code (during public beta v1 RC), or be invited by an OC Owner/Admin (after v1.0 GA);
  • Provide accurate registration information including a valid email address, password, display name, and (starting M2.7) your real legal name;
  • Accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
3.2 Real Name Policy
MUNGO enforces a real-name policy for accountability in MUN proceedings. Your real legal name (Chinese/English/pinyin acceptable) is required and, once submitted, is locked for 30 days. Visibility of your real name to other users is governed by the visibility matrix described in our Privacy Policy §4.
3.3 One Account Per Person
Each natural person may maintain only one account. Multiple accounts by the same person, or shared accounts, are prohibited.

4. Service Description
MUNGO provides software for running Model United Nations conferences, including:
  • Three-tier organizational hierarchy: Organizing Committee → Event → Venue → Dais Team → Delegate;
  • Chair-side procedural tools: roll call, General Speakers List (GSL), moderated/unmoderated caucus, motions, voting, points/yields, meeting minutes, document review;
  • Delegate-side tools: country selection, document submission (DR/WP/Position Papers), chat with chairs, AI-assisted document review (correction-only);
  • OC dashboard: cross-venue monitoring, invite code/magic link distribution, AI tool toggles, credit management;
  • Managed AI features (Section 8): document format review, similarity detection, position analysis, procedural suggestions (advisory only);
  • Speech transcripts: manual entry, Web Speech API STT (v1.1+), segment-level chair attribution;
  • Cross-platform desktop applications (Windows, macOS) with auto-update.

5. Eligibility and Geographic Restrictions
The Service is currently offered to users in the following jurisdictions:
  • Permitted: United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand.
  • Not offered: European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom.
If you access the Service from a non-permitted jurisdiction, you do so at your own risk and waive any data protection rights granted by your local laws beyond those explicitly extended in our Privacy Policy. We may restrict or terminate access to users in non-permitted jurisdictions at our discretion.

6. User Roles and Responsibilities
6.1 Role Hierarchy
MUNGO defines six roles with distinct permissions:
  • OC Owner — Full administrative control of an OC, including financial actions (credit topup, plan changes, owner transfer);
  • OC Admin — Operational control: create/delete Events and Venues, distribute invite codes, configure AI tool groups, view credit balance (cannot top up);
  • Dais Head (DH) — Full chair authority over a Venue, including managing the Dais Team and changing the venue topic;
  • Co-Dais Head (CO-DH) — Limited chair authority, may add/remove Dais Members but not the Dais Head;
  • Dais Member (DM) — Runs procedural activities, manages delegates, uses chair-side AI tools;
  • Delegate — Submits documents, chats with chairs, uses delegate-side AI for self-correction only.
6.2 Responsibilities
Regardless of role, you agree to:
  • Maintain the confidentiality of your password and account credentials;
  • Promptly notify us of any unauthorized access at [email protected];
  • Use the Service only in connection with bona fide Model UN activities and related educational purposes;
  • Not impersonate any other person or misrepresent your affiliation with any institution;
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

7. Subscription Plans and Billing
7.1 Subscriptions
MUNGO offers subscriptions tailored to organizing committees of varying sizes and use cases. For current plan options, pricing, included AI Credit allocations, applicable quotas, and any other commercial details, please contact [email protected]. Subscription terms agreed between you (or your OC) and MUNGO will be set out in a separate order form, quote, or written agreement. We will notify subscribed OCs of any material changes to their subscription terms at least 30 days in advance per Section 19.
7.2 Billing
During v1 RC, subscription and AI credit topups are processed manually via wire transfer, PayPal, or other mutually agreed payment methods. MUNGO is not currently a payment processor and does not directly process credit card information. Subscription fees are non-refundable except as required by applicable law. AI Credits are non-refundable once consumed and do not expire (subject to OC account remaining active).
7.3 Auto-Renewal
Paid subscriptions auto-renew annually unless cancelled at least 30 days before the renewal date. To cancel, contact [email protected].
7.4 Price Changes
We may change subscription prices or AI credit unit prices with at least 30 days' advance notice to the OC Owner via email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

8. AI Services and Managed AI
8.1 AI Features Bundled by MUNGO
AI features are bundled and provided as part of the Service by MUNGO. To deliver these features, MUNGO uses one or more third-party AI infrastructure providers. When you trigger an AI feature, MUNGO transmits the necessary inputs through its servers to the relevant infrastructure provider in real time. MUNGO does NOT persist your prompt or response content in any application log, database, error tracking system, or other persistent storage; only metadata (tool name, token counts, venue ID, OC ID, and computed AI Credit charge) is recorded for billing and abuse prevention.
8.2 AI Credit Usage
AI calls are billed against your OC's prepaid AI Credit balance at the unit rates displayed in the OC dashboard. Token counts and other usage measurements are taken from the underlying AI infrastructure provider's authoritative response data and are not self-reported by your client. Before each call, MUNGO reserves the estimated maximum charge against your balance; after completion, the actual charge is settled. Any cost overrun beyond the reserved estimate is absorbed by MUNGO at no charge to you. The applicable unit rates may be adjusted from time to time as described in Section 7.4.
8.3 AI Output is Advisory Only
AI output is provided "AS IS" with no warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose. You are solely responsible for reviewing, verifying, and acting upon any AI output. Specifically:
  • The "Suggest Next Motion" feature (A-7) provides advisory suggestions only; all procedural actions must follow standard Model UN parliamentary procedure (delegate motions → chair entertains → optional vote). MUNGO software does NOT automatically trigger procedural actions.
  • Document review features (A-1, A-2, A-3, A-8, A-9) provide suggestions for format, citation, factuality, and similarity; final acceptance of any document remains at the chair's discretion.
  • Delegate AI assistance (A-8) is strictly limited to format, citation, and factual error correction. It does NOT provide position, strategy, or content suggestions.
8.4 Disclaimer of AI Errors
MUNGO is not liable for any AI hallucinations, factual errors, biased outputs, or other defects in AI-generated content. You are responsible for any consequences arising from your use of AI output, including but not limited to procedural decisions in MUN proceedings, academic integrity claims, or factual representations.
8.5 Third-Party AI Processing
AI calls are processed by third-party AI infrastructure providers engaged by MUNGO. By using AI features, you acknowledge that AI prompts and responses transit through MUNGO's servers (no persistent storage) and a third-party AI provider's infrastructure. MUNGO will disclose the relevant processing details to a user on request through the contact channel below.

9. User Content
9.1 Ownership
You retain all ownership rights in your User Content. We do not claim ownership of any content you submit.
9.2 License to MUNGO
By submitting User Content, you grant MUNGO a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, display, and process your User Content solely as necessary to provide the Service (e.g., displaying your chat message to its intended recipient, storing your DR for chair review, generating embeddings for similarity detection). This license terminates when you delete the content or close your account, except for residual copies retained for the data retention periods specified in our Privacy Policy.
9.3 Content Restrictions
You agree not to submit User Content that:
  • Violates any law or third-party rights (including copyright, trademark, privacy);
  • Contains harassment, hate speech, threats, or sexual content involving minors;
  • Contains malware, viruses, or executable code intended to harm the Service or other users;
  • Contains commercial advertising unrelated to Model UN educational purposes;
  • Misrepresents the authorship of academic work in violation of your institution's academic integrity policies.
9.4 Reporting and Takedown
If you believe User Content violates these Terms or your rights (including copyright), contact [email protected]. We will investigate and may remove offending content or terminate accounts at our discretion.

10. Prohibited Use
You agree not to:
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service except as expressly permitted by law (e.g., interoperability under 17 U.S.C. § 1201(f));
  • Circumvent rate limits, security controls, or access restrictions;
  • Submit fake usage data, manipulate AI Credit balances, or exploit billing systems;
  • Use the Service to send unsolicited bulk messages (spam) to other users;
  • Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Service except as permitted by our public API documentation;
  • Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercially exploit the Service without our written permission;
  • Use the Service to develop or train competing AI/ML models;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure, including denial-of-service attacks.

11. Intellectual Property
The Service, including all software, documentation, designs, logos, and trademarks (MUNGO, the mango logo), is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Source code disclosed in our public GitHub repository (github.com/Mun-Go/MunGOConsole) is licensed under terms specified in the repository's LICENSE file; binary distributions of the Electron desktop application are licensed under the End User License Agreement (EULA).

12. Privacy
Our handling of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.

13. Service Availability and SLA
13.1 Target Uptime
We target the following monthly uptime:
  • v1 RC (public beta): 99.0% (approximately 7.3 hours downtime per month) — best-effort, no service credits;
  • v1.0 GA: 99.5% (approximately 3.6 hours downtime per month) — service credits available for applicable paid subscriptions;
  • v1.1+: 99.9% (approximately 43 minutes downtime per month) — enhanced SLA available for applicable paid subscriptions.
13.2 Scheduled Maintenance
Scheduled maintenance windows (limited to once per month, maximum 4 hours, between 02:00-06:00 UTC) are excluded from uptime calculations. We provide at least 48 hours advance notice via status.mungoservice.com and email to OC Owners.
13.3 Service Credits (v1.0 GA Onwards)
Subject to your subscription terms agreed with MUNGO, service credits apply as follows:
  • Uptime 99.0% to 99.5%: 10% credit on next month's subscription;
  • Uptime 95% to 99%: 25% credit;
  • Uptime below 95%: 50% credit;
  • Uptime below 90%: 100% credit, plus right to terminate subscription with full refund of unused balance.
13.4 Exclusions
The SLA does not apply to downtime caused by: (a) third-party services (CDN/network, AI infrastructure, transactional email, and similar providers) — but we will degrade gracefully where possible; (b) DDoS attacks or other malicious activity; (c) natural disasters or force majeure; (d) your network connectivity or device failures; (e) public beta versions (v1 RC).

14. Termination
14.1 By You
You may terminate your account at any time by submitting a deletion request at privacy.mungoservice.com/request. Termination triggers our deletion workflow as described in the Privacy Policy.
14.2 By Us
We may suspend or terminate your access if you (a) materially breach these Terms, (b) engage in fraudulent or illegal activity, (c) place undue burden on the Service, or (d) for any other reason with at least 30 days' notice (except in cases of egregious abuse where immediate termination may apply).
14.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination: (a) your right to access the Service ceases immediately; (b) we will delete your personal data per the retention schedule in the Privacy Policy; (c) outstanding payment obligations survive; (d) Sections 9.1 (your ownership), 11, 15, 16, 17, and 19 survive termination.

15. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR COURSE OF PERFORMANCE. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT (A) THE SERVICE WILL FUNCTION UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE; (B) DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED; (C) THE SERVICE IS FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS; OR (D) AI OUTPUT IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR APPROPRIATE FOR YOUR PURPOSES.

16. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL MUNGO, ITS AFFILIATES, OR ITS LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM (A) YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE, THE SERVICE; (B) ANY CONDUCT OR CONTENT OF ANY THIRD PARTY ON THE SERVICE; (C) ANY CONTENT OBTAINED FROM THE SERVICE; OR (D) UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS, USE, OR ALTERATION OF YOUR TRANSMISSIONS OR CONTENT.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR USD $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

17. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MUNGO and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your access to or use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your User Content; (d) your violation of any law or third-party rights.

18. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
18.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
18.2 Arbitration
Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved exclusively through binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS in San Francisco County, California, USA, under the JAMS Streamlined Arbitration Rules then in effect. The arbitrator shall have authority to grant any remedy available in court except for class-wide or representative remedies. You and MUNGO each waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action.
18.3 Small Claims Exception
Either party may bring an individual action in small claims court for disputes within that court's jurisdiction, in lieu of arbitration.

19. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by (a) updating the "Last updated" date at the top of these Terms, (b) requiring you to re-accept the new Terms via an in-app dialog on your next login, and (c) for OC Owners, sending an email notification at least 30 days before the effective date. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms. If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you must stop using the Service.

20. Miscellaneous
20.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and EULA, constitute the entire agreement between you and MUNGO regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements.
20.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
20.3 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
20.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or any rights hereunder without our prior written consent. We may freely assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with at least 30 days' notice to OC Owners.
20.5 Notices
